Questions and Suggestions

Dog Agility Central’s goal is to cater to the needs of its members. We know that an important part of expansion is the willingness and ability to add new features and tweak existing ones. We value input from you! What do you want to see incorporated into the community? Once you are registered and logged in, you may post a comment on the Questions and Suggestions board on the Forum. I’ve included some basic questions below. If you have any questions that aren’t answered on this page, then you can click the image below. The image link will take you to the appropriate forum where you can ask any questions you may have.

Who runs Dog Agility Central?

Dog Agility Central, or DAC, is run by an anonymous admin who is assisted by a few other anonymous helpers. Everyone behind DAC is a volunteer from the North American agility community.

Is DAC free to join?

DAC is and always will be free to join. There are no special services for “paid” members. Everyone has an equal voice on the forums. The admins do not participate in non site related discussions and do not endorse any single training method, product, business, organization, etc. To make an account, go to the registration page.

Do I have to live in North America to join DAC?

DAC welcomes members from all countries. The services and forum are geared towards the aid and discussion of topics pertaining to North American agility. However, we welcome input from members that reside in other countries, especially on topics that apply to agility in general. These topics include general dog discussion, debates pertaining to training methods, and dialogue concerning international events.

Special thanks…

DAC would like to take a moment to thank Dog Rad Design for contributing all of the photos that are used to decorate the site. Dog Rad Design offers a fantastic photography service in the UK and the volunteered use of their impeccable photos is deeply appreciated.

Your Help Is Needed!

One of Dog Agility Central’s main goals is to provide an extensive directory of agility training clubs in the USA and Canada. However, compiling such a list is quite an arduous task. It would be virtually impossible to track down every training club via google. However, we can collect many agility center website links through a collaborative effort! All we ask is that you check the Training Club links page to see if your local agility center is listed. If it is not, you may fill out the following form and submit it in an email to admin@dogagilitycentral.com :

Training center name:

Location: (city, state/province)

Contact information: (website link required; phone number optional)

Any Additional info: (optional- any details ranging from special classes offered to the the footing in the facility)

Thank you for any contribution that you are able to make!

About The Site

December 14, 2012 in Uncategorized

The idea for the creation of Dog Agility Central can trace its origins back to early Spring of 2012. I noticed that a lot of North American agility competitors spent time on yahoo lists and facebook groups dedicated to the discussion of agility related topics. However, I also realized that there was no real centralization of this online community. My main goal in creating this site is to offer a one-stop agility site that allows enthusiasts to discuss a variety of dog related topics as they pertain to our wonderful sport.

In addition to providing a discussion forum for the North American agility citizens,  I intend to consolidate useful agility links into one organized directory. As far as I know, there is no website that has a comprehensive database of equipment manufacturers or training clubs in the USA and Canada. It is my goal to collect as many of these links as possible in an attempt to make the search for the right trainer or equipment designer much easier.

I have also created an “Events” section. It can be difficult for small clubs to get the word out about their events, from special seminars to regularly scheduled pay-per-run open practices. This section offers an opportunity for event holders to announce their occasions to a wide audience.

Expanding on the idea of a North American agility discussion forum, I decided that I wanted to create a site that offered other means of communication and connection. Therefore, I’ve added a plug-in that allows members to “friend” and send private messages to one another. It is my hope that Dog Agility Central becomes a popular website where agility competitors come together to share their insight and opinions on a variety of topics.

After months of planning and brainstorming, I finally bought a domain and hosting account. Between the design and art work and the writing of pages and content, I have put a lot of hours into the site. I hope that it proves to be useful for many agility competitors across North America!
